Student Illness Guidance:

When To Stay Home

Students should stay home from in-person learning and other activities if they have any of the symptoms below:

Fever ≥ 100.4°F / 30°C

Stay home until fever-free for at least 24 hours without the use of fever-reducing medications like Tylenol

Cough

Stay home if coughing is severe or uncontrolled, or your child has wheezing or difficulty breathing until symptoms have improved

Vomiting

Stay home until vomiting has stopped overnight and your child can keep food and liquids down in the morning

Diarrhea

Stay home until:

  • Diarrhea has improved

  • Your child is not having accidents

  • They have no more than two bowel movements above what is normal for them in a 24-hour period

Rash

Stay home for oozing or raised rashes that cannot be covered by clothes or bandages until lesions have scabbed over or are dry.

Pink Eye (conjunctivitis)

Stay home if your child has yellow or green eye discharge and see a healthcare provider. If they have bacterial conjunctivitis, stay home while symptomatic or until your child has been on antibiotics for at least 24 hours.
