It was a long-awaited moment for more than 400 Falls Church City Public School employees — a return to Convocation, the first one in 24 months!
The year's theme — "Roots, Resilience, and Renewal," was developed from an idea proposed by a group of Mary Ellen Henderson and Meridian High School teachers. They have been involved in designing the school division's new Sustainability Academy.
The annual program begins with greetings from the Falls Church School Board, the FCCEA, and the Falls Church Education Foundation. Nearly 70 employees were recognized for their years of service from 5 years to 30 years! The Meridian High School Saxophone Quartet and Chamber Singers provided musical entertainment.
And Superintendent Peter Noonan offered "Welcome Back" remarks to start the new school year. "Today is always one of my favorite days of the year in FCCPS. It’s funny though - I always feel pressure to be inspirational but my inspiration comes from the incredible staff and faculty in FCCPS. You inspire me! It’s going to be a great year! "
