In its first year in Region 3, the George Mason Girls Basketball team is making quite a statement.
After losing 5 of their first seven games in the new, tougher league, the Lady Mustangs turned it around over Winter Break and have been on a 14-2 tear since New Year's Day. Saturday, they pulled off another upset, a 39-31 victory over 2nd ranked Brentsville to capture the Region 3B trophy.
The journey to another state title continues this Friday at George Marshall (yes, Marshall) High when the Lady Mustangs open against the loser of tomorrow night's Region 3A Championship between Booker T Washington and Lakeland.
